WALLET - KUROZAN / AIZAN
The hides of Japanese black cattle are dehaired and tanned white, then lacquered by hand on the raised areas of the embossed grain to create this leather. By repeatedly drying and applying layers of lacquer, the lacquer becomes glossy and voluminous, giving the leather a deeper black sheen. There are only a few workshops in Japan that have inherited this technique, and even a skilled craftsman can only produce around 20 pieces a month, making this an extremely valuable material.
